I- Abstract

The rapid advancement of AI and its sudden yet prominent reemergence into the
mainstream consciousness has abruptly yet certainly turned a new chapter in our
day-to-day lives. Its implications as a capable and multi-faceted tool are set to
fast-forward our progress as a species in a wide array of fields ranging from medicine to
entertainment and beyond.

The areas set to be affected the most are those that have grown stale due to a
combination of the inherent limitations of the human brain and challenges that some
may perceive too difficult to overcome through manual effort. Trivia games fall
somewhere within this area and are the perfect candidate to demonstrate the
effectiveness and creative utilization of artificial intelligence.

II- Introduction

1- The Allure of Knowledge

Trivia games and their numerous variations have been popular for generations. From
hit TV programs such as ‘Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?’ to the countless games on
mobile app stores that have accumulated billions in downloads and revenue, it is
abundantly clear that not only is there an inherent desire for knowledge in people, but
also, the desire to utilize that knowledge in a manner that brings joy, and sometimes
revenue.
If we are to step back from our modern understanding of quizzing games and simply
observe the general concept of questioning one another and testing one’s knowledge on
matters they claim to be familiar with, then the very concept can go back centuries.
Upon observing this timeline, one can come to the realization that the fundamental
construct of Trivia games has remained more or less intact throughout all this time and
that the primary evolving elements are, for the most part, external factors tied to
humanity’s knowledge and their ability to adequately compile them.

2- The Problem
One could make the argument that trivia games entered a phase of rapid growth upon
the introduction of Web1.0, and later, Web2.0. The sudden abundance and availability
of knowledge and the ability to utilize software to rapidly browse and process vast
amounts of information gave birth to a new generation of trivia games whose library of
questions and answers dwarfed those of generations prior.
Despite this page-turner, trivia games would still have to overcome some
obstacles.

a) Real people still had to manually construct questions and answers.
b) These people often had to be well-versed in their respective fields to ensure
their puzzles were factually correct.
c) The process of coming up with new trivia would sometimes present itself as
a creative burden.
d) The questions were limited in quantity due to the manual nature of their creation.
e) Categories were limited in diversity due to the absence of their respective experts.

It didn’t take long before developers and game makers began to realize the limitations
of modern-day trivia games and their resulting suppressed potential, and began
devising solutions to overcome some of these challenges. When it comes to such
solutions, one particular approach stands out from the rest.

3- A New Accord
At some point, developers realized that the burden of creating quizzes can be delegated
to the community instead of a handful of people and, as a result, drastically increase the
question potential of their games. While this process of decentralization may sound
good on paper, in practice, a handful of flaws began to appear.

a) Quizzes were more likely to have mistakes due to the lack of quality control
and expertise. Bad actors would become a hindrance by abusing these features
to intentionally flood categories with a variety of ill-designed questions.
b) Smaller categories would end up containing very few quizzes due to the lack of
users dedicated to that niche.
To their credit, measures were introduced to optimize this process.
a) Good behavior was incentivized with rewards.
b) Report systems were added to flag problematic users and questions.
c) In some instances, quizzes had to go through manual approval prior to
their release.

Despite these measures, however, trivia games would still struggle to take the leap some
envisioned it would at the start of the golden era of information. For instance, questions
were still little relative to their potential, and the more questions were added,
the harder it became for community members to come up with unique ones.

By inheriting this creative burden, many users would begin to realize that the rewards
were no longer worth the effort, especially for popular categories where the odds of
submitting a unique question were low. Additionally, due to the relatively low number of
questions, these games began imposing limits for each category to prevent players from
burning through categories, and more importantly, to profit off user activity.

While the desire to profit cannot be scrutinized, the problem lies in the numbers, and
some would find it unfitting to pay for what seemed to be a simple, and more
importantly, a community-driven activity. This process of decentralization would end up
becoming too taxing on the player base, and, paired with a harsh monetization system,
would present itself as a failed attempt at bringing trivia games to their fullest potential.

4- The Real Solution
The entity most suited for handling such arduous and all-encompassing tasks would
undoubtedly be AI. Until programs like Chat GPT began to take form, AI was lackluster
in most applications. While it was capable of outperforming humans and performing
impressive feats in very specific tasks, the broader its responsibilities were, the worse its
performance became. The breakthrough in AI technology that we are witnessing rapidly
evolving before our eyes is not only capable of outperforming real people in areas such
as designing trivia games, but it can do so with an astonishing amount of accuracy
despite the range of information it has to process. By adopting pre-existing measures, a
platform leveraging AI for these purposes can also root out the occasional inaccuracies
in the AI’s puzzles.

Not only is it more optimal to utilize AI for building trivia games, but it is also more
ethical, as individuals such as community members are not at risk of exploitation for the
benefit of the platform. Alternatively, with the right incentives, community members
can actively contribute to certain areas of the protocol in question, combining the best
of both worlds to deliver the ultimate trivia experience.

This approach to trivia design is not only more optimal but also ends up being a
self-perpetuating protocol when viewed from a wider lens. On one hand, AI is being
utilized in other fields and is constantly adding to mankind’s pool of knowledge, and on
the other, these new findings are being utilized by AI for the protocol’s trivia. This,
however, is more applicable to categories related to sciences than to those such as
entertainment or history.

III- OvalPixel

1- Concept

OvalPixel realizes the solution to these obstacles by leveraging the
ever-developing AI landscape to its advantage. It is a protocol that taps into thevast database and networks of advanced machine-learning algorithms to generate vast amounts of trivia that encompass a wealth of categories and sub-categories. This allows
OvalPixel to cover virtually any existing topic known to man, with no theoretical upper
limit to the number of generated questions.

As AI technology develops further, so too does the OvalPixel protocol. This can be in
regard to the accuracy, reach, creativity, or flexibility of the underlying tech, which
translates into new and better, harder, and more enjoyable questions that can be added
to the already-existing vast pool of trivia on the OvalPixel platform.

The speed and accuracy at which this is done render all human-led trivia applications
obsolete. Whereas traditional variants have to go to great lengths to verify the
authenticity of the more obscure and specific trivia, AI algorithms can go through
numerous different sources and verify the integrity of the answers within mere seconds.

2- Gameplay

In terms of gameplay, OvalPixel closely resembles a traditional trivia game on the
surface, with a lot more running underneath the hood. Users simply select a category
and a respective sub-category and have 15 seconds to answer each question by choosing
one of four different answers.

Upon guessing correctly, the player wins in-game tokens equal to the amount that they
wagered for that question, and conversely, choosing the incorrect answer would mean
the player would lose their wagered tokens. Players start out with a small amount of free
tokens upon signing up and/or referring friends, and can also choose to purchase
in-game tokens directly from the shop.

The differences between OvalPixel and traditional trivia games can be immediately
observed upon starting the game, as the sheer number of categories and their
subsequent sub-categories dwarf everything else in comparison. For instance, the music
category would feature the vast majority of artists from beyond the past century,
spanning multiple genres and subgenres alike. This same approach is applied to several
dozens of genres, providing near-countless hours of entertainment for players of all
backgrounds.

3- Features

OvalPixel will launch in a complete and fully-fledged version, with planned
subsequent updates to ensure a constantly-evolving protocol and a
continuously-improving user experience. These updates are planned as far as a
year and a half down the line and serve as major targets for the development team to hit for every quarter.

The launch version of the game includes the core game, the ability to purchase in-game
tokens, the ability to redeem won tokens for blockchain tokens, the Banana Crystal
payment on and off-ramp, and expandable question limits.
For the most up-to-date feature list and upcoming updates, please consult the project
roadmap.

4- Upgradability

OvalPixel’s software was built with the advancement of AI in mind, and as such, was
designed to be upgradable to accommodate the innovations that will arguably power the
future of mankind as a whole. With that in mind, here are some of the technologies
OvalPixel is built to support once they become viable for adoption:
a) Image-based trivia: While a single individual may find it nearly impossible to go
through every single text-based trivia, OvalPixel is designed to also support
image-based trivia that bases questions on images either gathered from the
internet or generated by the AI itself.
b) Audio-based trivia: Similar to video-based trivia, for content where the sole
focus is in the audible medium, the AI can theoretically use those as a basis for
its questions.
c) AI-generated puzzles: This would include AI-generated puzzles that can utilize
either pre-existing 3D assets or AI-generated ones to create a short, unique,
and a virtually-endless number of puzzles and minigames.
Between the constantly-developing tech, AI-related regulations, and ethical
implications, OvalPixel’s development plan unfolds at a pace to accommodate changes
in the industry and adopt the right tech at the best time.
Additionally, the ability to utilize the same AI program to create different variations of
the same game can lead to numerous game modes that can help keep the game feeling
fresh, diverse, and more accommodating to a range of different play styles. This is true
for both text-based trivia, as well as video and audio ones.

IV- Blockchain Utilization

With over a decade of persistence, blockchain technology has proven to be
effective in fast, trustless, permissionless cross-border payments – paving the
way for billions of people to tap into a global financial system with little constraints.

These open-source protocols can be utilized by any individual or project to bring unique experiences to the fingertips of users worldwide. However, as
far as they’ve come, there still exist some obstacles that prevent widespread adoption
and usage of Web3 applications.

OvalPixel does utilize blockchain technology to realize some of these goals and make its
game more accessible to global users, but it also addresses key pain points and chooses
to overcome them by utilizing Banana Crystal’s payment infrastructure.

1- Banana Crystal

Banana Crystal acts as the on and off-ramp for OvalPixel’s ecosystem. It is the primary
method by which users can purchase in-game tokens, and cash out blockchain tokens.
With a simple UI, flexible payment methods, and its main purpose as a tool to
circumnavigate some of the complicated and messy aspects of DeFi and Web3, Banana
Crystal amplifies the accessibility of blockchain technology and enables users from all
around the world to play on OvalPixel.
At the same time, this doesn’t hinder the user’s ability to purchase in-game tokens using
cryptocurrency; it would just mean rather than interacting with smart contracts and the
like, they’d simply have to go through Banana Crystal’s network to obtain in-game
tokens, and inversely, use Banana Crystal to send the blockchain-based token to their
non-custodial wallets or custody it in the user’s Banana Crystal secured custodial wallet.
In future updates, Banana Crystal will also serve to power other Web3 features including
but not limited to staking, staking rewards, and more. See the roadmap for more details.

2- Tokenization

One of the highlights of blockchain-based applications is the ability to tokenize virtually
everything imaginable. Whether it’s a fungible or non-fungible token, this process is
used to express various rights and abilities and realize possibilities that were previously
unobtainable.

OvalPixel utilizes two types of tokens for its game:
a) The in-game tokens: Also referred to as ‘game tokens’, are
non-blockchain-based tokens used as the sole means of playing the game. They
can be purchased directly from the game’s shop in USDT stablecoins and can be
used to wager in all the different categories and subcategories of the
game. When a user has enough game tokens in their balance, they can
choose to cash out and convert them into project tokens, which can be
sold or held in a wallet.
b) The project token: These tokens are blockchain-based AI utility tokens and
are the primary medium through which value is transferred. It is called
OPAIG and it can be minted by redeeming in-game tokens at a dynamic
conversion rate or can be purchased directly by swapping them with other
tokens on a DEX (decentralized exchange).
While the game tokens can be converted into blockchain tokens, this only applies to the
tokens won from playing the game, not those purchased from the shop. This is done in
order to ensure that the blockchain tokens are minted through action and effort,
subsequently preventing mass minting and destabilizing the circulating supply.
However, while purchased in-game tokens cannot be converted to blockchain tokens,
blockchain tokens can be used to purchase game tokens using Banana Crystal.
Furthermore, game tokens that have been won through gameplay can still be used to
make new wagers and earn more tokens.

V- Tokenomics

The project token is called OPAIG, and it is the sole value transfer mechanism of the
OvalPixel platform. It is based on the Polygon network – a Layer-2 solution for
Ethereum – and as a result, benefits from fast and cheap transactions.

1- Token Supply & Allocation

Ticker: OPAIG
Network: Polygon
Pre-Mint: 335,000,000
Max Supply: N/A

Founders & Advisors: 75,000,000
Development & Marketing: 20,000,000
Project Reserves: 75,000,000
Listing & Partnerships: 50,000,000
Airdrops & Giveaways: 10,000,000*
Donations & Causes: 5,000,000
Ecosystem: 2,500,000
Initial Premint Gameplay
Tokens: 97,500,000

Total: 335,000,000

Private Sale: 0.15 USDT per OPAIG token
Number of tokens issued at Private sale: 500,000
Listing Price: 0.20 USDT per OPAIG token

While OPAIG will enter into circulation at 335,000,000 tokens, it should be noted
that apart from the pre-mint, all future OPAIG tokens can only be created solely
through gameplay. Apart from the pre-mint, no other OPAIG tokens will be minted
without active user participation.

Among the allocations listed above is the address responsible for distributing the
rewards. This is an added security measure meant to counter exploits, should any
exist. It is an address that holds a finite amount of rewards, and, via smart contracts,
is responsible for distributing OPAIG tokens to users redeeming their in-game ones.

By limiting the number of tokens this address can hold, OvalPixel ensures that, if in
the unlikely event, an exploit or bug is found within the game, malicious users could
only redeem a relatively negligible amount of tokens before the process is halted for
fixes.

*In order to mitigate the potential subsequent sell pressure that may arise from
conducting airdrops and giveaways, the OvalPixel team will buy back every token
given away during promotional activities. Such a measure will help preserve the token
value without allowing for any hindrances in regard to user and player growth.

2- Conversion Rate

The game utilizes a dynamic conversion rate that governs how in-game tokens are
swapped for OPAIG tokens. Given the number of categories and sub-categories in
OvalPixel, the ease with which one can accumulate tokens, and the ability to adjust the
wagered amount, it is imperative that a conversion rate be put into place that ensures a
fair and stable OPAIG output.

Upon launch, the conversion rate will be adjusted at 1:20, meaning that for
every single blockchain token to be minted, twenty game tokens are required to
be burned.

3- Conversion Rate Algorithm

The dynamic conversion rate follows a special algorithm that adjusts it based on user
performance, trends, and various other metrics that provide insight into player
patterns and behaviors that may have an impact on OPAIG’s usage, and ultimately,
its value.

In its simplest form, the algorithm adjusts the conversion rate and raises it when
users are over-performing, and lowers it when they’re under-performing, such that, in
the event that the game itself is proving to be too difficult, users that manage to
consistently beat it are rewarded appropriately.

Ultimately, the algorithm is responsible for supporting an appropriate output rate for
the OPAIG token, which is essential for the game’s longevity and overall ecosystem
health. In addition, it may also serve as another security layer in the unlikely event of
an exploit, preventing malicious users from causing notable damage to the token,
project, and its players.

4- Buyback and Burn Mechanism

A commonplace component in many blockchain-based applications, a burn mechanism
can play a key role in helping preserve the overall health of the project’s tokenomics.
This is done to counteract otherwise inflationary elements that may sometimes be
fundamentally inherent to the protocol in question. OvalPixel also supports a
buyback and burn mechanism where 10% of all revenue generated by the
platform is used to buy back and burn OPAIG tokens from existence. This is an
integral part of the protocol, and, depending on user performance, may even act
as a deflationary force for OPAIG’s circulating supply.

In addition to buying back and burning OPAIG tokens, OvalPixel will also buy back
redeemed tokens and reintroduce them into the reward pool, preventing the need to
mint additional tokens and inflating the supply, and helping with the preservation of
OPAIG’s value. The rate at which the project will buy back these tokens is
undetermined at the time of writing, however, the team will work toward the ultimate
goal of a 1:1 ratio.

Whether or not OPAIG will trend toward a deflationary or inflationary cycle, however,
cannot be guaranteed and may not be predictable. This is because, as mentioned above,
the rate at which OPAIG tokens are minted and burned depends on player performance
and decision-making. In the event that players are performing well and making
conversions, OPAIG’s circulating supply will increase, and conversely, if players
are making poor choices and losing game tokens, OPAIG’s circulating supply
will decrease on account of the deficit induced by the buyback and burn
function.

VI- Roadmap

Following its release in Q2, 2023, OvalPixel will adhere to the following roadmap for its
targeted upgrades:

It should be noted that this roadmap is subject to change based on a multitude of
different factors; and while the developers will strive to bring these features to life in the
targeted time frame, unforeseen and uncontrollable circumstances may present
themselves as obstacles to progress and delay the development process.
